According to Vanderbilt University, Tennessee, there are studies to indicate that hypnosis combined with a size management program can contribute significantly to weight reduction.

A 1985 study published in the Journal of Clinical Psychology revealed that the addition of hypnosis to a behavioural program resulted in significant additional weight loss --  while those using only the behavioural treatment exhibited little further change.

A 1996 analysis that looked at six previous studies found participants who used hypnosis lost on average 12lbs by the end of treatment, while those in the control group lost an average of 6lbs without hypnosis.
